is it hardto put a m60 to an e30?Also if anyone has some detailed story of a similar swap or a walkthrough it would be great.

never done an m50, but judging how popular its getting its cant be too difficult, where as i know of one m60 v8 .
so if an m50 is 4/10 on the difficult scale a v8 would be 7.5/10
you can get an m52 2.8 up to 250bhp which is very lively in an e30

I'm trying this conversion very slowly and it is tricky. I haven't even got into the tough stuff yet, and as Kos says, brakes and gearbox are the biggest bugbear. 6 speed g/box is a) extremely rare and b) about £1000 if you find one unless you are seriously lucky and find a breaker who doesn't know what they have got.
However, where there is a will there is a way and they can be made to sound amazing. BMW really muted the engine with there exhaust system, paricularly on the 7 series (quite understandably for a luxo-barge) where my motor came from.
Do a search for BMW V8 on youtube and or BMW E28 V8, listen to those puppies sing and be inspired!

yeah you can mod a 2.8 6 pot but you can't argue with 286bhp and 295lbs. Can you? You's need a super charger or turbo to get the 2.8 going like that.
If done properly it would be the most drivable conversion out there! V8 grunt, no bodged turbos on 2.5's or £3000 S50's or big heavy S38's. They are a fair bit lighter than the M30 boat anchor and won't be hanging over the front axle. Just a simple 4 valve V8 that on the whole is a good engine and won't do head gaskets like the M62, bar Nikasil!
You don't have to use the 6 speed box as the far more common 5 speed from the E34 530 v8 bolts straight on
This is the conversion i'd like to do once the pina is done, so a long way off then!

I know people with all the above mods apart from the cams that are making about 40 bhp more than stock, so are you saying that the cams add another 50% i.e. 20 bhp when combined to all the other mods. Thats only 35 bhp shy of the 3.0 m3 with its manifolds and higher compression and advanced vanos

193 plus the 40 hp gain with out cams comes to 233, leaving you 17 hp short of 250, considering you will have a less restrictive exhaust and some sort of induction going on i dont think thats unreasable claim, and its not a claim, its factjames_obryan wrote:I know people with all the above mods apart from the cams that are making about 40 bhp more than stock, so are you saying that the cams add another 50% i.e. 20 bhp when combined to all the other mods. ss for being only 35-40 hp shy of the M3, why do you thing the 328i sport was retricted to 193, cheaper insurance and to not make the M3 look only a bit better.
a simple re-map on a 328i sport puts it up to 210-215 bhp
