e28 535i conversion

Hi to all, ive currently got a 318i lux fitted with a 2.7l engine. Its a well specced car running a sport close ratio box n lsd etc.

Ive been toying with the 3.5 idea for a while now & have come across a D-reg 535i auto for a sensible price.
What im after knowing is whats involved with swapping my 2.7 to the 3.5, would the engine be suitable or would a E34 535i be a better option as a doner car.

All help would be apreciated.

E34 535i or e32 735i would be much better options - the sump wont clear the e30 cross memeber on an e28 m30 IIRC.

I'd look out for a good e34 535i manual, otherwise you will have the aggro of tracking down a manual gearbox which aren't too common.

Or just get the sump/oil pump from an e34 after from a scrapyard. But I can imagine that being fairly tricky.

Cheers, think i might buy it anyway its got 7months Mot so could smoke it about for a while.

Ill keep an eye out for a later model like you say its easier.
