Holset for defo then
Ed, any cummins 6BT series engine or anything in the 6 to 8.2 litre range, be careful with turbine housing size though, most are 22cm on commercial, you'll want an 18 or 19 to get spool @ 3K
a new holset to suit ( HX40) is £600.00 outright with VAT and shipping

Holset all the way!
According to my datalogs I get 3psi in 1st @ 5k, 8psi in 2nd @ 4k, 9psi in 3rd @ 3.5k, 9psi in 4th & 5th @ 3k, so not much lag at all! With a few more cc's you should get a little better response.
Mines a 18cm3 housing by the way but I am running a 3 inch exhaust which DOES help loads with spool up.
HTH, Mark.

Try it and see, I went from 2 x 1 7/8's to 3 inch and it made a huge difference.midnight wrote:if i swapped to the holset do ya rekon i would have to go 3 inch exhaust or cud i stay with 2 1/2 inch?
Thing is you'll need to speak to Ant as we're the only ones as yet to get a 3inch straight through onto a RHD e30.
There's a secret to it but it's not my secret to share
Mark.
