well i dont know much but i have the innobate lm-1 and digital display box and it really is easy to use.
i dont know what more one can want out of a sensor but it seems relatively tough and simple to setup. hth

Matt, you're using Emerald yeah, so you can just purchase a Bosch LSU4 WB and plug that straight in, no conditioning circuits required or external controller.

hi ant, i am going to be using emerald but i would perfer to have a gauge on the dash to display whats going on just for piece of mind, the sensor would not be linked to the emerals and not used to map against although dave will be using one to set it up the first time :D .

if all seams to be happy after the mapping i may take it out but would quite like to be able to plug it bk in agian if some thing was knocking etc....

Can you post some pics or a link to the 52mm gauge you could supply please Ant?

I'm about 99% sure the Emerald still needs an external conditioner I'm afraid :(

Surely emerald would need a lamdba to run? It must have some sort of feedback?

Most people on Ms tend to use lc-1 innovate widebands it seems, can be picked up for abuot 135 smackeroos eitehr from bill shurvinton of the e-gay.

You can run any of the aftermarket ECUs without any form of feedback. Someone maps it for you using a WBO2 kit and then walks away taking their kit with them to work on someone else's car.

Emerald and most of the ECUs available need a signal conditioner which takes the signal coming from the sensor itself, and gives a voltage output ranging from 0-5v which corresponds to the AFR. In either the WBO" software or the ECU software you need to make sure that the voltage values correspond to the same AFR.

Just looked at the Emerald leaflet for the new K3 and it does say you need an conditioner, but if you've got one it can self map with the same sized table that the normal fuel table uses so it should be pretty good.

I would say though, that you shouldn't really be looking at an AFR gauge whilst driving! Leave that to someone else or a computer and tuck it away out of sight. If your mapping's right you don't need to see it and likely as not, full load is when it's reading is going to interest you most.....which is exactly when you should be looking at the road. :)

so just leave it logging away and don't bother installing the gauge on the dash :)

Be carefull with the autotune as it needs setting up before it will work properly. The stock settings are only for N/A cars and only cover a small part of the map. The theory behind it is sound but the actual use of it in real life is still under debate by the masses.

I'm running a Zeitronix simply for the added logging features. If you are running an aftermarket ECU then there may be a specific brand of wideband sensor that will be recommended or set up for running with your ecu. Otherwise the LC-1 is a good catch for an all in one or the Zeitronix is also good. I cant comment on the Emmerald though.

Think as long as you can either configure the V-in/AFR in the ECU, V-out/AFR in the WB controller or both then you can use pretty much any combination of WBO2 and ECU :)

Theres a table for V's/AFR on my old style Emerald so i guess the new one will ?

My Inovate WB has a little control box which i think you can't really do with out due to the heat cycle set up and free air calibration, both which add to the long term accuracy of the out put. It also can give you fault codes to help diagnose any problems more quickly.

this is abit more what i had in mind, a guage you could just look across, not overly botherd about being able to log and then connect to the PC.

what you think?? :D

I'd be wary of the LC-1... I have mapped alot of cars with these fitted and comparing to my dyno wideband most readings seem to be out. And no, it's NOT my dyno wideband which is out! lol.

In my experiance it usually reads leaner than what the actuall AFR's are. so not in an unsafe way. This is usually caused by a faulty sensor.

I read somewhere that the LC-1 needs regular calibrating.

Dave Walker said some thing similar when i had mine mapped, i think they're OK to get your fueling 90% there if your going down the DIY route, but get it checked on a RR with a more profesional(sp?) WB02 kit.

I going to use mine to compair two different air filter set up's and log the AFR's on a few WOT pull's(on the road) as it should pick up if there's much difference. Richer = worse air flow Weaker = more air flow(= more power, touch wood :) )

Shame i never had the chance to see how accurate my LC-1 was against Dave's WB02, but i'd lent my LC-1 to a mate at the time.

I also found that they are particularly susceptable to heat too. But this is just my experiance
