How accessible is the M30 starter motor in an E30? Im wondering if its worth replacing it before I drop the engine in. I assume the alternator is not a problem. Water pump is already done. Anything else?

It's not too bad to get too, I've know plenty worse anyway.
I would crack the bolts off and nip them back up, so if you do ever need to take it off they shouldn't be too tight.
Could be worth putting on a new sump gasket, that would be a real pain to change later on.
Martin.

Good idea, thanks. Sump gasket already done. I assume the alternator is easy to get to.DRIFTBOY wrote:I would crack the bolts off and nip them back up, so if you do ever need to take it off they shouldn't be too tight.
