Well into my megasquirt 1 V3 build with wasted. I have gutted an old Motronic ECU for it's socket, and I am wiring up the MS loom to it.

What is the best way to get a rev counter signal? I was thinking of using three diodes and a transistor connected to the three LED (wasted) outputs.

You can either build the tach out circuit or as I have, cheat and feed the motronic the VR signal aswell as MS.

The latter can only be used if you keep the moronic in the car, mines still responsable for powering up the DME.

I do have the tach output circuit installed also but I've not attempted to get it working as yet.

Good plan using the moronic plug tho, I've seen Ants one and it's worth the effort!

As mine was fitted originally almost two years back, before all the R&D was done, I used the MS loom throughout and have tidied away the plugs/wires I don't need anymore, I know Ant had figured out which original loom fittings would work well to eliminate the extra wiring.

Ahhh, right, tacho output is part of the MegasquirtnSpark-extra code. 8)

Cool, thanks Mark, looks easy enough to do. I dont plan on keeping the Motronic unit - instead, I intend to bolt the MS box onto the base of the old Motronic case.

After it's up and running, I am going to look at building my own version of the MegaView, possibly using a red-backlit LCD panel. I write software for embedded devices for a living.

Talking of software - anyone got a (non-turbo M20 325i) wasted spark MS config file they can send me to get me started? Thanks.

Stuart.
