im thinking about putting in a e34 3.5 motor in my 325i sumtime this year but the intake manifold on the 3.5 is on the opposite side ,
can i put the m20 manifold on the 3.5 as i have a cold airbox already fitted to the m20 and it works realy well and would like to keep it that way, other wise ill have to make another one up, in my oppinion i dont see why it wouldnt work, any comments welcome

thanks

won't work

you can move the throttle body to the other side of the E34 manifold easily however.

the m20's ports are closer to each other; the whole engine is shorter.

all you really need to do is machine the left face (with the 3.5 lettering) flat, put the hole in (i used a drill and file, the metal is thin), drill and tap holes for mounting studs, make up a blanking plate for the old hole.

i think it looks much better than the standard setup.

only thing is, if you're still using the standard AFM there may be little room for it?
