Hey guys, this is on my friends swap he is doing at the mo.

Now from what I've read on here, I was under the immpression the M30 loom with the big round plug on, would plug straight into the car loom with the round plug on?

Am I missing something, because on both my friends and my setup the M30 plug is alot bigger....

I'm no expert with M30 conversions, but I suspect an M30 from an E28 would have the same plug as an E30, but the E34 M30 will have the larger 25 pin plug. This will need removing and replacing with the correct 20 pin E30 plug.

Ian.

Our engines are from 91' and 92' E34's, maybe this has something to do with it.....?

If the E34 was like the E30 in that any engine complete with loom would fit the same body looms, then any M30 engine produced after the 24 valve 2 and 2.5 engines were introduced would have the larger plug.
Wonder if the actual pins are the same? If they are, they can be removed from the larger plug and transplanted, in the correct ositions, into a smaller plug.

that's odd... itt must be like brianmoooooooooooore said that it's a later donor car with a later style plug. my E32 loom plugged straight in and was the smaller size.

Thanks guys, were gonna use M20 loom's instead, and just extend the AFM wires etc.

Is that easier than changing the plug??

Ian has the part number of the metal inserts so you'd only have to do some crimping.

We thought it would be, but after having a brief look earlier the m30 loom is a pain to get off (and I'm lazy) plus it looks like most of the wire colours match....

Were gonna re-pin a plug so that it all goes together correctly and looks right.

Anyone have pinouts for -
