As I said BMW have done turbo in the past and they will in the future
And as Karan said the engines are more than capable anyway.
Surprised there's actually a section for it though, I thought only a handful of people were into turboing their E30s
What do people reckon to a turbo 316i?

Oh they can, but BMW choose not to for reasons of drivability, etc etc & also prefering technical excellence, over just slapping a turbo on, to get the powerKaran wrote:noooooooooo bmws are strong engines that can handle turbos.....

Same reasons Gordon Murray didnt want a turbo in the McLaren F1
But then on the other hand a turbo bimmer would be an awful lot of fun
Cheers,

I like them a lot, always missed the turbo rush even with the silky six pot howling
this new section is on trial, we'll bin it if she dont work out, I'm gonna dig out the tubo and blower threads and move them here, all our eggs in one basket

This section is a great idea.
Ive seen other forums with a section dedicated to turbo, blower and nitrous and it does seem to be getting more popular with BMW owners.
Ive been thinking about what to do with my old M20

nice one. great idea to have this section.
let's not forget the superchargers though folks. they're a great way to mod a car and very British.
I've not been in many turbo cars and never even driven one but I reckon twin turbo is ok but all these "phat" high boost chav turbos are just gay.

Well, forced induction certainly seems to arouse a lot of interest from people so a section dealing with people projects and experiences on the subject is a good idea IMO
Of course I'm biased!
I am however tired of people telling me that I need "turbo pistons" and a 2:1 compression ratio otherwise my engine will definately melt. So if this section can highlight what's possible and what's not ... well, good thing!

Yep the ferrari 355 was n/a however a tuning company called koenig did turbo conversions of a few ferraris and the 355 got 2, better aero-dynamics etc and around 600bhp nice! I tried to find their site but it seems to have gone.
