I'm getting under way with my conversion in the next week or so once i've cleaned my garage out and by then hopfully have a very cheap ratty 1990 E32 735i to strip for all parts.

1 thing i'm not sure about is what manual gearbox and exhaust can i use?

Can anyone help with this or point me in the right direction.

Yeh another 335

Your M30 will be the later one so you will have the choice of manual gearboxs, any 3lt or 3.5 from an E28? E34 and E32. Exhaust systems you can use downpipes from the doner mated upto an E30 M3 system (ideally) or take it somewhere and get a custom stainless job.

Or do as I'm doing and use a 325 system, not ideal but will get the car roadworthy

Do a search in this section on M30 conversions, there's tons of info :D

Nice 1!
Cheers charlie i'll take a look. Have you had any major problems doing yours? from what info i've found the conversion doesn't sound that bad once you get all the right bits

I have no problems what so ever (touch wood) although it's not finished yet, everything is in place minus the exhaust and prop (E30 M3) I've had it all running and everything working as it should :D My MOT is due at the end of feb so am aiming at having it finished for then.

Actuall I lied, I did have one problem... no garage and english bl**dy weather

You know it mate! I wonder sometimes why i ever got a cab living in this country.
Whats the deal with the wiring loom? did you connect it up to the e3o wiring or replace it all?

Cheers

Will be doing all my conversion on the cab outside too but as far as the weather is concerned i drive mine
with the top down as long as its bright and dry. Bloody good heaters on the cab.

I plugged it into the E30 loom (round connector on bulkhead) I used the auto loom that came with my engine but changed the TPS to a manual one as it site lower. I have also extended the engine loom to ECU so that it can be fitted in the normal place under the dash (lots of soldering) I've also fitted the plastic casing from a 4 pot that houses all the wires attached to the bulkhead so when it's finished it looks more factory..

Where are you from Gary ?

There might be a 335 near you so you could have a chat/drive about the swap ?
