E36 328 into 318is

Was just wondering, has anyone done a E36 328 engine into an E30 318is and if they have, whats involved.

The swap is essentially the same as any M50/52/54 swap into an E30, and there's LOADS of info on here.
Electrics get a bit more complicated with EWS equipped cars, but nothing insurmountable.
There's a thread going on at the moment about 2.8s, and the possibility of putting a 2.8 crank (from a clapped nikasil engine) into a M50 iron block, to produce a more reliable engine.

As Brian said, theres loads of info on here about the swap - it been done a few times now.
The biggest problem with using the E36 range of engines, is that the sump and oil pick up pipe need changing for the ones from an E34 M50 engine to clear the E30 front crossmember.
