The port sizes are very different - S50 much bigger, but the bolt pattern is the same AFAIK.

They are interchangeable.

As JMC says you wouldn't want to put an M50 manifold on an S50 - going the other way is fine though. ideally you'd port match the head to the manifold too.

was just thinking of buying a steel m50 one for the flanges to cut off so i can build a turbo manifold a bit cheaper once they are cut off i can match them up precisely before welding up or (so the plan goes) :?

Sounds like an idea. Remember its the M52 (2.5 and 2.8) engines that have the steel manifold, the rest have the cast iron ones which would be a pig.

I have seen some turbo manifolds for these engines on ebay recently that look awesome value (£150 rings a bell). I emailed the guy and he told me they place the turbo up, and toward the front so the only trouble you should have would be with the downpipe (if yours is a RHD).

They are stainless - I think that's what Jai meant.

Yea sorry,

Just re-read the post and it's garbage! I meant to say you need the M52 ones.

That's using the zone at work for you.... :o:
