Hello to all the E30 peeps! :D

this is my first real post on here, infact on any board, infact ever!

computers never really a strong point unless it meant picking up a c
ontrolpad and pushing the on button! :o:

so heres my question:how does this flipped mani for a turbo install work?
anyone got any pictures of the conversion of the mani?

ive got a 318 thats soon to be a m20t(hopefully) that will be a budget build (wife kids big f**k off mortgage etc) and this might seem to be the best option unless a certain breakers i know have still got the 324td perched nicely in the corner!

any info would be spot the dog to a newb to the bee-m world!

Works OK, the turbo ends up quite high which restricts iptions for bigger units, but gassflow seems fine and looks OK, spark plug access is same as stock almost so major result

wicked car dude
cheers bruvver :thumb:

the manifold will physically bolt on upside down as is, the ports will be 1/3 rd out of alignment though- soloution is to mill/grind the areas that need opening up, and weld the areas that are not inline with the port anymore.

try this.... get manifold and a set of Ex mani gskts, then mock it up flipped with the gaskets in the correct orentation, its obvious what needs to be done, be careful not to grind the manifold walls too thin !!!

The manifold pictured is Blingstas, however the porting work was carried out by Andy ( Buster on here) he may have some pix to help guide you dude

I will never understand why BMW didn't space the studs symetrically around the ports!

Were they not thinking people would need to turbocharge their cars in 20 years time?!

the exhaust bolts to the turbo outlet, the turbo bolts on, with an adapter to where the original downpipes started.

look @ the top pix of Blinsta's engine bay.
