It can be done, its alot of work to do it yourself and you will probly other transport while you do it. If you dont think you can do it yourself then pay someone like ant to do it for you.

a holset HX35 with 12 or 14cm turbine with 10psi is probly about right for what you want. I wouldnt get anything small

You can technically Turbocharge any engine (dont think you can on a 2 stroke)......its normaly just a matter of cost.....

Depends what what power you want, how much work you can do yourself and how much you care about appearance. But bits you need are-

ECU
Maybe coils
Intercooler
Wastegate
Dump valve
Injectors
Turbo + oil drain and feed pipes
Manifold
Downpipe
Maybe system
Charge Pipes+Hoses
Solid Head bolts and maybe thicker MLS gasket and maybe welded head.
Dont forget fitting this all is gona be alot of time/effort or cost you aswell and also you will need it mapped which will cost you abit.

would add all that up, could spend £1k maybe less if you do it all yourself like toby or look at some of PPF's or VM performace ones and they probly cost £5k+ becuase all engines rebuilt and tube manifolds, autronic ECU which cost near £2k on its own.

cost would be the only thing thats likely to stand in your way regarding turbo charging,it gets quite expensive and if your going to fork out lots of cash you might as well aim big to start with to save you the cost of upgrading when you get bored with it and want a bigger kick because i can guarantee you will winkeye

If ur not after huge power, U could just do a few small stuff like a chip, trottle bodies, Induction kit, a more free flowing system etc. Ud be supprised how they all and up the bhp and how nuch a differnce that little bit makes, I once drow a chipped IS and it was just as fast as a 325

chip
Cant chip these dude, ECU is wrong type I'm afraid

add the 2-5 TB and inlet yes, but dont use the injectors in your car, the impedance is too high and will damage the ECU internally.

fit the zaust etc and then maybe add MS, ditch the AFM and really enjoy the B23, buzziest 6 cy ever

Ms from me inc all related info and hardware and basemap is £487.90 @ todays exch rate dude, all you have to do is connect into the fuel side on yours and away you go, the ECU will do 3D mapped sparks too but you'd need some motronic parts retrofitted to get that working , the dizzy and crank sensor mainly.

A good non worn M20B23 is quite potent with the intake opened up, a real screamer

I'll have a V2.2 fuel only ECU spare in a month or so if you want a cheap soloution ? you can use the B25 injectors then and pick up some much needed throttle response too, no AFM wrongness strangling the engine

Thrust me it was a bloody quick car, arite there was a few more small stuff done 2 it but mainly it was from the chip. think it did about 160 on the rollers. Plus it the fact its lighter than the 325. The only thing that the 325's hav is the in gear acceleration and That Sound

My track iS is stripped, chipped, BBTB, K&N induction, Freeflow stainless, fully sorted suspension / brakes and I dare say it would whip a 325 round a track. In fact, I'm going to see if it does tonight at Cadwell! 8)

how about the bottom end from a 525e - should mate quite nicely to the 323i head, mate that with 325i inlet manifold and t/b - could have a nice cheap 2.7.

Then MS that!

The good thing about your car is that you can change the engine without pissing off the M3 protection league

If it was me id look at getting an s50 - pretty cheap these days and more than enough power!

That way you would have the M3 looks with power that would embaress 95% of real e30 M3's
