How much (as an estimate) would the cost of a FULL conversion from my current 320i with auto box to a 325i with a manual box be?

Could anyone list the things i'd need? and what I may get for what's left of the old? (current engine has 82k on it)

Hi there! I'm new to the zone too, but welcome!

Don't wish to be negative, but would it be less hassle and possibly better financially to sell the 320i and buy a 325i to replace it? That way you get rear disc brakes too if you haven't already got them!

Otherwise you would need:
Engine and gearbox
Clutch
Clutch master and slave cylinders, clutch hoses
Clutch pedal and pedal box
Manual size brake pedal
Gear stick
Centre console?
ECU and some engine wiring or whole loom?

I'm not sure about other stuff like gearbox mounts, exhaust downpipes, cooling hoses etc. but it sounds like quite a task to me when 325s are so readily available!

Hope this helps without putting too much of a downer on the idea!

Thanks for your response....yeah I've thought of that but the 320i i've got is in such amazing condition I feel it would be a shame to get rid and difficult to find a 325i to match it.

You are right though....i'd be better off just getting a 325 and probably will before too long....the extra horses at the same rate of fuel are far too tempting.

Thanks again :-)

If the shell is that good it would be a shame, as they can get expensive for really nice 325s, or to do up a not so good one!

Maybe you could buy a doner 325, swap the parts (you'll have everything you need) and sell the rest of it on!? Tatty 325s can be picked up for £500 or less. Even better, a crash damaged one if you can find one. Just a thought!
