Sup guys,
Well Me and Jon_bmw got to work this weekend on fitting the Turbo setup on the Cabby, come across a problem which we spotted but havent drove it yet but ive been thinkig it will get a much bigger problem once we do..
i have a 3-piece exaust stainless on there now, thing is apart from the rear box having the normal fixing with the rubber mount there isnt any outher suport/fixing untill we get to the downpipe (internal wastegate) which obvioulsy connects to the exaust flange..
before it was fixed right to the manifold so it was semi sturdy..had a lil knocking now and then from the centre section hitting the underbody but now this will be a major problem..having that exaust swaying around connected to the turbo and manifold like that is not a good idea..things will losen up or break very quickly i feel..
I didnt take the standar exaust off or did i fir this one but i cant see any outher fixing points whatsoever anywhere!
what can i do? any advise?

Cheers Mark..
Neither of us have had much time with exausts so i dont know any diferent..could of got piccies but its getting a bit dark now..
i know you can get a kit from the factors which includes rubber, bracket for the centre section etc but not sure if it includes the bit your talking about?
I know the centre section brackets corrode up nicley so prolly why it was removed but surprised to see the outher 'L piece' was removed too and its that what confused me... didnt know there removable
the zorst is obvioulsy straight twin pipes from the flange down to the centre section then straight again to the backbox..what do you suggest?
surport at gearbox or fueltank area? im thinking gearbox as its nearer to the turbo setup.. but there isnt a bracket on the exaust there to fix to so maybe its the centre section then that needs to be surported with a kit..will they stock the 'L' piece too do you think

I'm not 100% on cabs, so there may be a diff in setup, maybe someone with the knowledge will advise soon
As far as I can suggest I'd say support the exhaust itself so it hangs were it should be with being attached to the turbo, so support by the bulkhead or gearbox is best bet. Centre section would be great if you can get the right bits in which should be a rubber bush and another bracket, I'd go have a look at one at the factors and see if it's gonna fit.
Pics are a good idea too, million words and all that
Mark.

Look here mate,
http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts.do ... g=18&fg=10
I bought parts 12 through to 26 not so long ago for my 3 piece system when I made up the frontpipes for my M50 lump.
Cost about £8 for the job lot, may take a few days to come though, all depends on your dealers

I had a new gearbox exuast mounting bracket fitted on a ramp yesterday on my tech 1 (3 piece system) cos the centre/down pipe section was hitting the heat shied or somewhere around the gearbox area. This was after fitting a 6 branch the other week.
The old bracket was shot and this has sorted the problem out.
Was £18 inc vat at the stealers
