After a few head scratching weeks of trying this, testing that, rewiring this etc etc it all came down to one wire..... pity it took me three weeks to find it

All sorted now and I enjoyed a short drive around the block using MS for fuel & sparks, first time for me and damn was it smooth :D

Now to figure out how the timing map should be and yet more tuning but the quest to max out my mp sensor is now back on and hopefully this time without spitting another HG out

Next up exhaust, having a custom chrome 2.5inch straight through single box system added next week plus some welding a new part of the downpipe too.

Not sure what tail pipe to go for tho, they do do a 8inch single

Very shiny.... so how would you rate the MS install process on a scale of "easy" to "Nighmare"? :)

Ms install is as easy as any other similar setup

if you can wire a stereo, and read a diagram then no worries.

It's much easier once you have read the megamanual :D

Install is straightforward and obvious, the setting up is best approached step by step. Once the basics are complete the rest is actually fun.

I also found that once it's fitted and working it all makes much more sense. Stick to one version, one code and learn. Each upgrade has many more features and changes and can cause more headaches than it's worth. Although the new versions are better as in more options better faetures the older settings may not be compatable and you have to start from scratch.

For anyone here who is after MS I would personally have Ant fit and map while you watch and learn, then once you have understood the basics it will mean you can map away at your own speed. you'll get aftersales support, a peach of a map and full control with peace of mind you have a UK based guru just down the road.

Even my misses who couldn't change a wheel on her own car can sit next to me and help me map mine, once I explained it all she knew what too look for and away she went!

use the "tach out" pin from MS mate, should work fine now, been tweaked in the sourcecode

if you are without a wire( cant recall) there are 4 spares in the harness, just pick one and swop it to the required pinout.

I've fed my motronic the VR signal so I still have tach. I may have a go with that ms tach signal over the weekend.
Will report back how it goes :D

G, the wires are connected to the spare outputs on the DB37, I had assumed you'd leave the mronic in place to run the tach, helps with the OBC too mate, but you will need to unsolder one wire and swop it over to the correct pin, only on the DB37 harness though, the MS ecu needs not internal tweaks, I've done them mate

so your motronic is still powered and active -so youve just wired the ms and left motronic?

but i think you are saying, wire my ms loom as labelled just leave motronic with injectors ,sensors reqd..etc disconnected and wire them to ms.

Pretty much, I plan to remove it all soon but not without enough spare time to patch any other system it powers up and I still need.

I reconnected all the wires I hacked up on install just to be sure any problems weren't due to removing it. So far so good :D

20 degress or so, I'm yet to really tune it all again due to the car awaiting a new exhaust but as far as I can remember it starts at about 20.

The idle is strong due to a rich mixture so as soon as exhaust is done I'm going to have another play and see if I can't get it spot on.

Cranking sparks are my only issue so far but I'm yet to try any more settings to sort that due to lack of time but I'll get there :D

Have you any experiance with timing tables on M20's?

I'm very interested to know your thoughts on cranking spark settings?

Thanks, Mark.

Thought I'd take a short vid while I was playing about this evening. Bloody neighbour parked across my garage so I couldn't get it out to open the bonnet, so just me sat in the seat with my toys.

Hopefully some out and about vids soon, real soon I hope.

I'm still running two boxs until I get my ass in gear and fit a 3 inch single box system but there's a few extra noises when it gets going
