In know we've got a few threads here regarding this setup but for a fast answer can i have the following info please..

ive been offered a 96k 3.5m30,Gearbox,Clutch,Loom & Ecu for 80quids! BUT it hasnt got a Cam so that could either be new or upgraded winkeye ,not that it needs it

So Q's

From what ive learnt i would need:

Fabricated Engine mounts
Fabricated Exaust
Gearbox Mounts???
E30 M3 Prop or modify mine
Radiator/Fan setup

Would i get away with my standard 325 diff (for now)
And does the Gearbox/clutch setup go ok with what i want/need (its a manual AFAIK)

If anyone has anything lying around il need for this conversion please let me know and if i defo go ahead with this il take em of yer pronto

many thanks

EDIT..Doenst have ECU or Gear linkage

if its from an e34 the 325 gearbox crossmember and clutch cylinder are bolt on.

e28 535i rad and an electric fan of your choice will also be reqd.

If its form an e28 then you will need a e34 sump and oil pick up. E28 rad with elec fan. M3 prop can be used. I used the E34 down pipes and mated them to the E30 system. You can use the e30 gear linkage I had to shorten mine. You can buy the engine mounts or make your own.

and a blanking plate for the back of the head.

Isn't the e28 motor slightly less bhp and has smaller valves ?

Well he said its from an m535i which is the E28 but its an '86' model but says it run 220BHP, thought those figures came from the late 3.5's?

Dunno m8,toying with some ideas and figures first..

Im put of by the age of this lump..should i be? hes running around in an e36 and gave me that milege..this lil lot has done even less at 87k but was took of road due to MOT failure with Rot..

So its the engine, box, clutch & loom i can use. With picking it up it will owe me approx £150 at that point..then its

Engine mounts >£150+
Gearbox mounts > £????
ECU >£peanuts
E30 M3 Prop or mod mine >£75+
Exaust >100+
Rad/Fan >50+
E28 so Sump and oil pick needed >£?????

Would my standard closed dif be of use? or is that another purchase needed?

So atm looking £650 give or take

Are people doing this conversion using this same engine or genrally newer?

If I was you I would get the gearbox and the rad and then look out for a e32/e34 engine. £650 is still a good price for the lot.
