Anyone looked at Performance BMW magazine this month? Someone's fitted a V12 850Csi 5.7l engine to an E30!

And it's made out of aluminium, so it's only 18kg (about 15%) heavier than the original engine! There's only 1000 of these engines ever made, so they'll be pretty difficult to find I'd imagine. The guy's planning to turbocharge it next winter, so that it will eventually have over 1000bhp.

I'd like to see someone beat that one!

If I remember right, there were only a handfull of csi's made, but there are lots of the normal v12's around. ( from 7's and 8's)

YEah but the Csi engine is actually 5.7 or somthing, whereas the 850's an 750's are actually only 5 ltrs, Csi was an M// breathed on engine.

Dips is planning turbos too, are you sure it isn't him?

Love those cars, i wouldnt choose one of those engines for a conversion though! Too rare, 'only' 380bhp, and not much in the way of tuning i would think. S62 would be a better choice imo, lighter, more widely available, more power out of the box, more available tuning wise.

Yeah but it's not all about power, it's torque too, and the V12 soundtrack! :D
