Been thinking this is a good way to build a powerful, well balanced E30.
The engine should take FI reasonably well right? With forged crank and conrods as standard, a timing chain and sodium cooled valves etc. A re-build with low compression forged pistons should allow a fair level of boost without too much compromise on reliability. Turbo, intercooler, oil cooler, associated pipework and fuel system upgrades can all be had reasonably cheap 2nd hand, scrappy or ebay...expense is the custom manifold built to fit and engine management.
Is the block a closed deck design? Has this been done before?

I was wondering about this too, would be nice to hear if anyone knows anything about it - I should think ant is a good starting point for this question!

I've done a lot of research and thinking... But not actually started the project yet!
Scumball is taking a lot of my time, and I don't have time now before I have to take one of the iS's to the Ring.
I've spoken to Ant on the subject a few times too and you're absolutely right about the engine being a good platform for FI.
Manifolds will be the big stumbling block, followed by ECU and then it just depends how seriously you want to do it... Bodge, or fully integrated system with everything tidy and done in the best possible way.
