I am in the process of fitting an S50B32 into an E30, which is being built as a tarmac rally/circuit car. I removed the engine from a wrecked E36 M3, and I have the matching key/transmitter/EWS unit. The question is, is there any way or anyone who can reprogram the ECU, so that I do not have to run all the additional EWS parts? Starting will be by way of a toggle switch/push button start, I do not want an ignition key or all of the extra paraphernalia that goes with it, less is more when racing! Hoping someone can help,
cheers conrod
S50B32 into E30- can I get EWS removed????

You can get a chip that removes the EWS from http://www.turnermotorsport.com
It is for the US S50 though, so I dont think it would work with the Euro S50, but they may do a chip that will (theres quite a few Euro S50s out there now) - Email them and ask.
Ive ordered a couple bits from Turner and they sent the parts over here with no problems.
I realise its for a circuit car but when you say "all the additional EWS parts", do you really think it will make much difference?
Its only a small bit of loom, the EWS module and the key which could be fixed into the antenna loop and never touched again - you could even remove the chip from the key and fix it and the antenna all into a neat little box and hide it away somewhere. That way you would still have the push button start (and no igniton switch/barrel etc) and save yourself the cost of the reprogrammed chip.

Thanks for your reply. The S50B32 ECU is a Siemens/BMW Motorsport unit that does not have any removable "chips" as such, programming is done by re- flashing the memory of the main chip. If I cannot get this done, I will do as you suggest, and remove the chip from the key and tuck it all away somewhere. My only concern is that it is something to go wrong, and I would rather not have the extra wiring/ components in the car if I can help it. I will fire off an email to Turners and ask them if this is possible. cheers Conrad

to be honest ,its really easy to wire up.Even if you use a push start switch. The original key needs to be taped up to the ariel for the ews module.

When you say antenna, do you mean the loop part that goes around the ignition key barrel?
