hey iam new to the bmw world and i have just got myself a nice little e30 316i 4dr bmw.wanted to know what the best way was to get more power out of it? i have a mate who said 4 Ԛ£200 i can have his 325i m-tech the body is nackered but the engine and running gear is spot on. but his is a 2dr and mines a 4dr would that cause a problem to install da 325 in to my shell.

How hard is it?

I have done engine conversions to other cars before and i have my own garage with ramp,spray bay and loads of tools.

do i need any more mounts. do i need 2 use a different propshaft or will da whole lot off the 325 fit straight on to my 316.

please help me THANKS ALOT :D

Except for the bracket that holds the air filter and no bracket for the 325 coolant header tank.
Fit the front struts c/w brakes and the entire rear crossmember c/w diff and all suspension. Fit new bushes to the crossmember when its off.

so the engine it self will fit straight in on the same engine mounts!

what about the propshaft cus the m-teck is a 2dr and mine is a 4dr will i need a propshaft off a 4dr 325i?

whilst doin the conversion i was thinkin of putin poly bushes all round but there r so many types and so many on da car is it worth doin the whole car or just parts.
if so what bushes do i want and whats the best company?

another question was what is da standard bhp on a 325i m-tech?

If you need to ask that, dont do the conversion yourself.

Its the doors that are shorter on a four door not the car! :?

Engine will go in complete with mounts onto the crossmember.
2 door and 4 door props are the same.
All E30 325 engines of a similar age have the same power output.
You won't improve on OE BMW bushes in good condition, especialy if you use M3 control arm bushes.
Use E46 cab for the rear shocker top mounts.

mtek in this case m8 is just the bumpers etc??????it is just a 325 not an mtek car......frustrating to think that some people believe otherwise!! :x :x

p.s dont forget ecu etc

ok cool thanks alot it should b fun :D

i have a scorpion mid box and back box at the mo 4 it but would like 2 get a manifold 4 it as well. where is the best place 2 get 1 and what sort of bhp gain will it make.

i also want a induction kit and was thinking about a cam maybe would i need anything else 2 help it run ie chip,valve springs,pulleys or anything?
