I have been advised that the 2.3 conrods are a better idea than 2.0 ones for the 2.7 conversion. Any ideas of their dimensions?>

I think all M20 con rods are 130mm in length, other than the 325 rods which are 135mm. I can't see there being any other difference between them, what have you been told?

I'm most likely to use the 320 head and 325 inlet etc for being cheap with a 525e bottom end(2.7), but I've been told that if I want to use the 885 head, instead of using 320 conrods and having the block decked I should use 323 conrods as in some way this is better????I was only going to use the 325 head for its better valves but if there isn't a lot of difference between the power output of a 320 and 325 head then i will just continue with the cheaper method to forsake machining costs.

I don't think that it's worth going the 885 route unless you are going to use lightweight pistons.

Use the 320 head with the 525e bottom end, then spend all the rest of the budget on bigger valves and and porting etc.

All M20 non 325i rods are identical.

Leave the 525e bottom end as it is (albeit with an e30 sump) and add the 320i head etc.

Cheers,
