I'm currently procuring the parts for this swap.

I have a crashed damaged Z Roadster and am swapping as many parts over as possible.

I'm hoping the Prop will be a bolt in but am not sure yet.

Let me know how you're getting on fella..

Well, the Z roadster has about the same wheelbase as my E30 and I'm using the diff (cool Torsen type with fins) and M gearbox so the flanges are definately right.

If the length is a little out I'll have to get it lengthened/shortened but hoping for simplicity's sake it'll bolt straight in.

Ian's was custom because of a few reasons.

6 speed box is longer (mine's a 5 and std on roadster)
M Gearboxes have bigger flanges than other cars (not sure about E30 M3)
Non M diffs (like Ians) have the smaller flanges.

I'm guessing anyway.. Ian will have to tell us himself...

mines got the 6 speed in,and i had the prop custom made.Front half evo,the rest is sport prop.
I belive that on the 5 speed box an e30 m3 one can be used. Not 100% on that though.

I also have a finned diff cover.

How much did that diff cover set you back Buster? The 'eye' on mine has snapped when the car took a whack so need to replace it.

It was Ԛ£100 and comes with the bush fitted, but that was about 3 years ago.
I think its about Ԛ£135 now.

Thats correct - E30 M3 prop bolts straight in with the E36 M3 5spd box (even with the standard E30 diff) the E30 M3 diff is needed for the longer ratio.

The input flange on the M Roadster dif has doesn't look at all l ike the American E30 M3 diff I have.. That has an input with 4 lugs, whilst the Roadster diff has more - 6 I think.

Hopefully this prop will fit straight on..

Where can I get hold of the guy selling the diff cover? Can't be this month - skint till pay day and we're only half way through! Aaah.

iv been offered a engine at a very good price, but it dont come with the 6 speed box, he has sold that, so i was thinking of using the 5 speed, would my dogleg box fit, and would it take it, the old boy said that the airbox is missing, will this be a problem, iv heard something about i will need a need control thingy for the intake, whats that all about and how much will that be, what sump will i need and mounts,

i think i can get the engine in, just getting it running will be the hardest part.
