Hi
A friend of mine has just got a 323i e36 coupe that he may send to scrap. If it does he is willing to give me the engine to put in my alpine white cab. It is a 98 s reg. from the wiki it states that this engine is to be avoided? Something to do with vanos. I'm not that knowlegeable on engines so I need advice from you intelligent people that have done this and know their stuff.
Should I take the engine if the car gets scrapped?The e36 pulls well. It's an auto as well
What else do I need of this car ? For this or to upgrade mine.
I think the steering rack?
Please advise in list form if possible.

I think that year E36 will have EWS. So you might need more bits from it like ignition stuff, extra electronics or EWS delete chip for engine control computer.
Yes steering rack can be used in your E30 even if you keep original engine. Also maybe driveshaft for engine conversation, diff if LSD?
