Hi all I am buying a project car,it's a318 1989 manual
I want to add power I am not very good on my know allege and reading up on it is fun but confusing
Just wondering what you would all do

I was gona drop a rb25 det engine in it but I heard that's a mega amouth of work

I then was reading on hear. And wondered about adding another bm engine a higher hp one ???

Or what about turboing ,
I know I will have to upgrade the clutch and so forth but I need some advice?

Is there a good easy engine swap to do that u would recommend ??
I did want crazy power but it too much hassle

Thank you

Try an M50 2.5 there fairly straight foreward and about 200hp with exhaust and intake, and well detailed on here about how to do it. S50 3.0 from an early e36 M3, thats around 300hp and not too bad to do. Or have an sr20 like me!

What power are you looking for, and what will you be using the car for?

There is a company that does conversion kits for the RB25/RB26 etc

You could drop an M20 or M50 in and run 300 hp pretty easy.

Or you could build a 500hp monster

Depends in your budget

Just get an M50 or M52.
Plenty of power and with the right choice of gearing can be adapted to suit most needs :D

At the end of the day, you can easily get 350bhp from an sr20 without even opening it up. It's an aluminium block 2 litre compact engine. A 350bhp sr20 e30 will easily do Porsche gt3rs on the straights.

700bhp+ 10k revving sr is achievable with a vvl head from another Nissan engine, with variable cam lift AND duration.

6 pots and big v8s can make an e30 interesting round corners. Even the m52 is quite heavy, despite what other people will tell you.

Do lots of research and go sr20 and look at all of the options properly so you know exactly what you want, and how you want the conversion done. It will be rewarding! Boost always wins.

Good luck.

you can turbo an m20 and get some nice power out of it and will be very fun with light boost
but again how much do you wanna spend thats what it all comes down too ???

mines running around the 400bhp mark and there aint alot that keeps up or beats me :)

3k is a good budget I built mine over time collected most of the parts over a year or so then took it of the rd for another 2 or so years to do it all you don't even wanna know what I've spent on it :D

Why the obsession with the rb25det? It's not that great. I'd rather 1jz or just turbo a BMW lump if you want 6 cylinder. However there's no hope of getting any of this done for 3k unless you can do all the work yourself.

A rb25det is the least desirable modern Nissan engine
With great challenges comes great engineering.
