Can any of you m30 people give a vague idea of m30 running costs?
Mainly fuel is it much worse than a 325i? I know its all relative to how you drive it but a rough idea would be nice.
Its chain driven so no cam belt, but any worries with then chain/tensioner?
Spark plugs are cheaper ones than m40 engines! (ok two more need but still...)
Do you use e30 fuel filters? or are they the same as e34?
Gearbox/clutch problems?
Seen a couple wich have thrown a bottm end bearing now, is it a major problem?
Head/gasket problems like m20?
Its basically an m10 and a half and that was always pretty reliable!
Any other problemos?
thanks

I get about 100 miles to 25 quids worth of juice, but this is mainly shortish trips to and from work. If you can keep to a sensible speed on the motor way then long trips are a lot better for MPG. Mine isn't a standard lump and it is slightly to short geared to get good MPG so it's may be not a good example.Gwynleym10 wrote:Can any of you m30 people give a vague idea of m30 running costs?

No probs as such in this area though as a precaution i would put some new chain guides on as they can go brittle(plastic). Its chain driven so no cam belt, but any worries with then chain/tensioner?

Gear boxs are as tough as nails, it basically the same box as the E30 325. No obvious problems with the clutch.Gearbox/clutch problems?
