It has been done and Lennies Supercharged e30 runs a B27 lump.

Only poss issue is the strength of the crank itself, which is why most will advise to use the TD crank as it's forged.

I have a eta crank and rods at home, so maybe one day I'll build it and strap it all on, see what happens :D

Generating power through cylinder pressure puts less strain in the crank than generating the same power by increasing the revs :)

That said, I guess you'd be doing both.
