Had my 335i on the rolling road today, 206.5bhp, not bad for an old car I thought.

A friend sorted out a shoot out for afew of us. I'd recommend JKM, a great morning, and no failures! Had 4 e36 328i on and the 2 with 2.5manifolds, big bore throttle bodies made 215, maybe m52 is the way to go.....

Did they have as a big a power curve as you in the low end? I think not.

You need minimal mods to reach 215hp.
With great challenges comes great engineering.

That's making more torque than my M50 non-vanos does at peak, all the way from about 2.7 to 5.5K... nice. Must be completely different to drive.

Mines meant to have a Shrick cam but I'm not so sure. Ran a 15.080 1/4 mile today on 195 wide toyo t1r with lots of wheelspin in first and second, fluffed the start, was in neutral, doh! Nearly a 3 second reaction time, lost against a mate in a mk2 escort with 2ltr zetec fitted. He ran 15.8 and crossed the line at 90mph, I crossed it doing 99.3mph. First time on the strip in this car, only did one run as a massive que.

One of the 328 had the worst drop off in torque I've ever seen, halfway across the graph it plummeted down

Well I'm sure I read that with that cam, the engine likes ambit of extra compression so get the head skimmed. I think the exhaust on there is restricting it, goes to a single pipe at the crossover section, it's so bloody loud, need to test db before the trackday I've got booked to see if I have to make up a extra baffle to go on. And I have a lovely warm air
Induction kit sucking in that nice air from the exhaust manifold!

And I would of done that with a couple more goes easy, would of been better off starting in second with the amount of wheelspin I had!

That is not likely to have helped as bogging down from grip has very negative effect on accelaration.

You just need practice that is all.

Well I'll be selling the car soon, need to concentrate on making headway on my e30 325i that's in bits on the garage, and trying to get the bugger running FI!
