well after a few months of the e30 in hiding,,, i got it out today and attempted to wire the fan to a e36 328i Fan switch which i fitted on the side of the e34 535i radiator,,,obviously with relay,,,

It worked when i was testing,, fan came in just over halfway on the temp and so on,,, only after i connected the wires propley i could not get it to work again,,,, see the switch has 3 wires 1 brown, and two others,, i only used two of them the first time round and cant get it to work nomore,,, Help!!!

one wire is the common pole, one is low temp, one is high temp. this allows you to wire it up through the low speed resistor (rectangular lump on the OEM fan) to get slow and fast fan speed depending on temperature.

you have got this wired through relays haven't you?

the best way to do it is to replicate the aircon fan wiring (relays K1 and K6)
