Exactly! Mark the position of the compressor wheel relative to the mounting nut and turbo shaft before taking apart. Be sure to put them back together as they came apart.
Keep in mind that precision balance is critical to the operation of the turbo. If you do something to upset this balance, you are going to have a new hole in your turbo. For the most part replacing the seals is not a problem. Attempting to repair a turbo with excessive play will likely require professional attention.
Oh, and the shaft nut loosens anti clockwise if memory serves.
