right iv got a bit of a dilema going on regarding either an M30 or M50.

iv just read lee's m30 build and the extra 69kg is putting me off but its alot cheaper and easier to do

iv also read randomdaves m50 build and having been for a ride in it it seems quite a good swap and from what im told the 24v is more fuel friendly than the 12v?????

not sure at all!!! help???? :?

Had this dilema myself recently and opted for the m30 because one became available.
My mate is doing an m50 conversion atm to so we are hoping to get both the m30 and m50 running around February and see what they are like side by side.
Bit of a wait but if your still undecided by then i'll let you know our findings.

M50 is a good, modern engine with hydroulic tappets, apart from spark plugs, oil and filters,it is virtualy maintainance free.
As a 24 valve engine,it likes to rev and develops it's power above 4000rpm.
My conversion is averaging a little over 30mpg.
No experience of M30,but it is a much older design...
Youth is wasted on the young.

The M30, like the M20, is medieval. Go the M50: it's a modern design, it's lighter, it's more "today". It drives much more like a "modern" car.

Proviso: I actually like the old engines, but I see the sense in the new ones.
