Here"s hoping i can get a definitive answer to an age old question"can i swap my 2.5i for a diesel"
What engine options do i have?
Has anyone actually done this swop who could provide some hands on info.
Many thanks

I asked the same sort of question before and it is possible if you use the DERV engine that E30's came with which is pants but more modern DERV donks are fly by wire so makes it a bit of a ball ache having to change your pedal box etc.

plus you will need to run new fuel lines and fit a new tank

I suspect it will be a lot cheaper (and easier) to fit a modern petrol engine AND convert it to LPG.
Then you have similar performance and better economy than the Derv.

M51 (e34 or E36 2.5 TDS) will be easyish and when chipped they're quite pokey.

for me though, LPG all the way.
