Hi all.
Got big plans for my 316 auto and got some questions that need answering first.

1. If i wanted to put a 2.5 six in are they just a staright swap with the wiring, mounts etc?

2.How awkward is it then to change the pedal box from an automatic set up to a manuel one? Any internal metal fabrication needed?

3.What would a realistic budget be for a 2.7 conversion bearing in mind i'm starting out with neither of the engines needed?

4.I think i remember reading that brakes of a certain 5 series would fit, what are these?

5. I know the 325 has larger struts, will these fit fine on my 316?

Thanks for any advice and sorry if these questions have been answered before i struggled to find much info.

As a guide,my 2.7 cost about £1500 to DiY build three years ago.Gave 175bhp earlier this summer on a pessimistic rolling road.
Eta cranks(the basis for a 2.7) are getting a bit like hens teeth now in usable condition,324(deisel)cranks are hard to come by in the UK.
Would reccommend you read through 'stonesies' thread regarding building his 2.8 before you make any firm plans.

Starting with a 316 auto, you have little more than a trimmed shell, as far as conversions are concerned, although, as long as its a good shell, that's not a major problem.
You'd be well advised to find a 325 donor car to supply all the bits, although the suspension and brakes can be obtained from any touring, iS or cab.
