hi there,
i have a m50 2.5 engine in my 89 e30 and want to turbo it ,i have been cheecking up on it and told it can be done you dont have to change enternals just a larger metal gasket to lower compression,i can get a turbo easy to,but want to no what ecu to use or what piggy back ecu to get....first time doin one on a bmw so if anyone has any ideas or more info it would be a great help as im in souhtern ireland .....thanks :roll:

Just about any ecu will work with the M50.

It would be simplest to run the one your tuner is most familiar with.

any more bit of info about the engine bits,or things that people have done besides gasket,,,,,trying to do this on a budget really but work in a scrapyard so have a few things to help the build

You´ll need a 0.140 MLS Gasket that you´ll not find in a scrapyard and ARP studs , same goes for them.

But that´s not to say that you can´t run 300hp on a 100% standard M50 if that´s what you want.
Other then that , it´s pipes, hoses, injectors, clutch setup and so on..

MLS and ARP will take the M50 to it´s limit which is 600hp but not for ever. 500hp is safe for a M50 for a long time if the tuning is right.
