can anyone help i have a e30 320i thing is its slow leaking oil misfiring and boring . what would be the easiest engine swap to give me more power and could i keep the original gear box.cheers mark.

Good description of a b20 that.

As Lee says above chuck a b25 in there and it'll go a lot better. It's a really very straightforward swap, even I managed it. You can keep the 320 gearbox, I believe it has very similar ratios to the sport gearbox. Having said that though it's much easier to swap the engines with the gearboxes attached.

It's a good idea to get a whole donor 325 then you know you'll have all the bits that you need. If you go the donor car route you might want to swap a few other things while you're at it such as:
  • 51mm front struts
    rear disc conversion
    diff
    Battery in the boot
I'm most of the way through this but still have the rear disc conversion and battery in boot to do

cheers, for your help im going to look for a donor 325i cheapist way i reckon
