as above really anyone put the e34 m5 ebgine into a 318is e30 thinking this would be a nice conversion,

yes it has been done, but you are going to end up spending in excess of £5-6K doing it DIY.

Ipersonally think the S50B32 conversion is better as it is easier to get 'right' and has almost the power and torque of the M5 lump.
Check out Karan's thread from a while back.. He did the M5 swap very well.
