Have got a box from an E328 to fit to an E30 325i.

Has anybody else tried this and has any suggestions / advice they can offer.

Old box out and new one tried, have found the following problems: -

1. Spigot shaft larger on new box, will one fit from an E36 325, or do you need to have a brass one made up?

2. As the new box is tilted over more, what rear gearbox mount will fit?

3. Have a direct mount quick shift from Geoff Steel Racing, but still cannot get reverse, anybody warmed and twisted the link to make the selection better?

So nearly there, but any help appreciated. Ratios that E36 box has not a problem, as this is to fit into a rally car, and so running non-standard diff, this is to try and make the gap between the ratios better.

Thanks.

Why dont you just change the spigot bearing to a e36 one .
I dont think you will find a gearbox mount to direct fit , but have seen a thread where some one used a e30 box on a m50 engine (same problem just opposite )and they made up a spacer to go under the rubber mounting of the gear box and bent the selector rod to suit

Bad way of describing what I wanted to know, is the E36 spigot bearing the same O/D as the one on the E30. If so great direct swap. Bending selector rod no problem. Will need to get an E36 gearbox mount to try this out, E30 nowhere near for either mount

Was goiong to leave the one from the E30 (M20) on. Is there any particular reason for swapping them round?

Thanks for the help so far.
