Been pondering recently about engine choices.

I'd like to fit an M52B28, will rebuilt it before fitting, and obviously chuck some nicer cams in with a decent header and probably a B25 inlet, but was wondering if there was an easy way to fit individual bodies onto the B28 head. Is the port spacing the same as S50 engines? It'd be great if i could chuck an S50 inlet on with some emerald!

Enlighten me wise ones, i'm relatively new to the world of BMWs

Cheers

Heads are different, ports are different, face angle is different and the oil filter housing is also in the way.

Sorry to put a downer on things :)

It can be done, but its a hell of a lot of work

Looks like the us spec M3 3.2 uses an M52B28 inlet manifold. I'm gathering from various info that it could be possible. Has anybody actually offered them up?

Providing the B32 stuff doesn't fit on with a bit of work(remote oil cooler?) then i'm sure an inlet manifold could be knocked up easily enough and some jenveys or something along those lines would suffice!

I would like to, but it appears that M52s are much more common, and much more likely to have had an easy life in a convertible driven by a woman, but i'm not overly fussed. S50s appear to go for a lot more cash too?!

I suspect that an s50 would be alot cheaper than an m52 with some throttle bodies bodged on running on emerald.

Ok, in that case what should i realistically be looking to pay for an S50B30 or 32 then? My mate bought an E36 M3 2 door for £1800 recently the cheeky bastard, on that basis, the £1500+ on ebay for an engine is pretty OTT but that's expected with ebay.

Cheers for the help so far. I need to make my mind up to plan the route to take so that i get the right parts from the outset.

Dbilas do a direct bolt on throttle body kit for M50/52 but unsure on price i expect to be around £2,000 for direct bolt on which i think is worth the money.

Most M3 engines on the ebay are scrap, the only way is to buy a complete e36 m3 listen and look at the engine running and buy safe in the knowledge its a good runner.
