Hi.
I`m considering buying an alloy fuel tank to try and solve
starvation problems, and wondered if i could use my internal walbro externally (piped to a tank outlet)?
Cheers ,Dean.

Depending on the pump I guess but some internal pumps may not have enough cooling if not submerged in fuel.

I have read that BMW pumps do rely on the fuel for cooling.RoadHazard wrote:Depending on the pump I guess but some internal pumps may not have enough cooling if not submerged in fuel.

i dont think there will be any problems using your internal pump externally.
why would an internal pump get any hotter than an external one?
they are probably mounted in tank to stop them being noisey.
you could get a swirl pot and feed it from the e30 tank using a standard pump
and feed your walbro from the swirl pot.
there will be no fuel starvation problems if the swirl pot has good capacity.
i have an external walbro on my car and it is pretty noisey
