Yeah dude, might be running it in tomorrow depending on the bbtb arriving- there is a mile long 60 on the door-step of the machine shop with roundabouts either end which should make running it in a little less stressfull...

Still bricking it though lol! :D

Daimlerman,

I honestly cant remember how much has been spent at least a bag, but then saying that there are lots of new shiney bits which account for most of it -the machine shop's rates are very reasonable (see sig link).

And to my fiance's credit whenever i give her cash to go out of shopping etc i always get the majority of it back (more for the 2.8 lol)

It really helps having a spare m20 or two kicking about for spare parts...

Another update the engine is pretty much assembled,

finished polishing up the bay ready for it...

Seems a shame to put an M20 oil leaker into that imaculate engine bay!
Doing well on costs,I gave up counting with the 2.7 at £1500.....three years on(almost)it still makes me grin when I stick my foot down... :D

Mine has past £800, and I havent bought any new gaskets, seals, shells or an oil pump yet.... And that is not counting the uprated suspension and a new kit of bushes for the back end 8O

Im sure (I really, really hope) the grin factor will be immense, maby add a 316I badge to the list winkeye

First 500 miles covered as of today, the guys at the shop were kind enough to let me use the ramp and help out with the oil change, the samco hoses went on along with a coolant change.

No problems bleeding up the coolant- its great having the extra 1000rpm to play with, the engine comes 'on cam' around 37-3900rpm and it was a restricted hit of power between there and 4500 which was the initial limit.

Pictures to follow, comments always welcome :D

Running in is completed and i must say i'm very very happy, should be on a dyno in the next couple of weeks.

Improved fuel economy,

Bags of power but still a little more fine tuning required.

That engine bay looks very smart indeed! I'd be fascinated to see the dyno results too :)

one @ WOT (normal dyno proceedure )

one @ part throttle to 4.5K then WOT in one run.

Ant, do you mean part throttle to 4.5k then wot to rev limit/max power? What is this likely to show up that a standard run wont?

email replied to Chris

I'm going to do an alternative chip for you dude :thumb:

just because I can

get a new WOT switch fitted as it seems to break contact , and double check you do get full throttle dude, you can trim the bottom end lean section out on the part throttle run using the AFM bleed screw, 2 turns will bring the idle CO up and will carry that through the rpm range til the WOT map takes over

Decent results @ low miles whatever the case, room for improvement there though

You should have at least 20lbs more torque in there at 4k and more below 4k.

Do you have a higher lift cam?
With great challenges comes great engineering.
