Sold my Sport in Oct 07 due to a drop in income, dabbled in a few gti/hot hatches before making the switch to diesel in Nov 08 for a new daily commute and additional work mileage.

Dream of getting back into an E30 every day, thinking of embarking on a engine swap/project.

THE BIG IDEA:
White MTech II with a M47(TUD20) - E46 320cd engine 8O

Anybody know if this has been/can be done and what the major obstacles will be. All advice, slagging and bad comments appreciated, this forum is a mind of knowledge so please help.

My personal thoughts are that an atom smasher under the bonnet of an E30 would be an unpleasant experience and the noise/ vibration would be colossal.

It would not make any economic sense as fossil fuels will be gone by the time the cost of the conversion paid for itself in any mpg savings

just what i needed to hear :thumb:

putting my sensible hat back on, try and save a few bob to pick up a half decent E46 320d for the week and an is for the w'end. Driving an E30 2 days out of seven should keep me happy
