Hi,
Regarding the M54 3.0 ltr engine does anybody
know the following please-
The max size overbore on the alloy block/liners ?
Will any other 6 pot TB's bolt directly onto the M54 Head ?
Any other 6 pot Tubular Exhaust manifold bolt directly on ?
Will the S50 B32 6 Speed gearbox bolt straight on or
does it have to be a M54 Manual, from 3/5/7 series ?
ECU will have EWS etc, has anybody had a M54 ECU flashed
or re-chipped ?
Many thanks in advance,
The Gorilla.

Liners appear to be the same dimensions as the M52
Exhaust studs are the same pattern as M52/M50 but with less studs, inlet is totally different
I dont think gearboxes are an issue, im sure ive tried a 5 and a 6 speed on but dont remember any problems

Isn't the block alu- / nikasil so it has to be coated..?
Just out of interest, why to bore the block?

Hi,
Jonski- the logic behind it was that the
M54 when replacing the M52 had its stroke
incresed to 89.6mm.
So in wanting to make it rev better, a shorter
stroke would decrease volume, so by increasing
the bore to the max possible, you gain back some
of the lost volume.
