motronic vs. l-jetronic

which is better of the two, also will all of the wiring loom have to be changed to convert l-jet to motronic?

l-jet is to cars like an abacus is to computing.
Motronic, on the other hand, is a PC at least. A few years old one, but essentially the same as the latest models, although somewhat slower and less sophisticated.
Changing will need a loom change, mainly because the ECU plug has many more pins, and a fresh oil pressure switch, because the plug is different.

by the way are all 325i's motronic,
from what i know the later 325i's had a 1.3 motronic ecu.
is this right or was that just for the south african market

afaik, all 325i are motronic. all 325e are motronic. all 323i are ljet. pre 87 320i are ljet, post 87 are motronic.
cant tell which version for motronic though.

Motronic 1.3 came with the 1988-on models of 320i and 325i. Prior to this, early 325i's used Motronic 1.1 or similar, with pre-1988 320i and 323i models having analogue L-Jetronic.
