I have the manifold from a RHD ZM3 roadster. As my car is LHD I wouldn't mind to get the correct manifold and was wondering if the RHD version is of any help for an S50 swap in a RHD car.
Or does it need to be modified anyway when RHD?

I'm 80% confident that the S50 manifolds are the same LHD to RHD...

They certainly are on the E36, but BMW do seem to list a LHD specific manifold on the MZCoupe (which is what supplied Uwe's engine). I have no idea what's different though.

Uwe,

You will have a lot more space to play with in this area, as your car is LHD. What you really want, is one of these:

I know very little about it, or what it was fitted to, but No6 header pipe is a much better design for fitting in an E30. I suspect it would go in with little or no modification on a LHD E30.

that's right ian,
i didn't have to modify the no.6 pipe when i put the s50 into my lhd m3, only at the collector area, where it fouled the lollipop.

no.6 pipe did however 'touch' the bulkhead, but it only needed the smallest amount of 'fettling'. you could almost make the adjustment to the bulkhead with your fingers.

Those were my Alpina manifolds I found on the S50 engine I used in my E30

Quite rare it seems like. They were made by Boysen for Alpina and were used on an E36 Alpina vehicle (but I can't remember which one). These were far too rare to send to BTB to be chopped and modified so I sold them on ebay and a chap in the US bought them. Unfortunately the absolute idiots of a courier company who have now gone bust as it was just 2 guys doing it from their house as a 'broker' lost the parcel and it never got to the buyer. We had to refund their money and I was left with no money and no manifolds :(
I was livid - well livid was an understatement. So unfortunately the manifolds are god knows where? Which is a real shame.

The car originaly came from Germany and was imported to the UK a few years prior to being dismantled. So these were definitely LHD manifolds.

I can't think of anymore info at the moment. But they would certainly be good for your application.
