What is the going rate for fitting an engine?
Would like to put a turbo diesel engine (from either e30, e36 or e39) to my '89 318i 2 door. Not too fussed whether its the 2.4 or 2.5 litre version.
I'm in Cambs btw, so anywhere local would be good. Also, it would obviously be nice if the engine could be supplied as well.
Am I right in understanding that I'll be able to use the current gearbox? Alternatively, what needs doing to fit the e36 gearbox?
Finally, are all these pre-98 diesels without electronic control? (just to figure out how much wiring is required).
Alternatively, what is the going rate for fitting an M42 engine (used, not rebuilt) and an LPG kit (could do the LPG kit myself, just don't have an engine hoist etc. to do an engine transplant on the drive), since if this is simpler, it might work out cheaper than the diesel lump (although I would prefer to fit the derv).
