right i have a quick question supercharger wise.
im currently rebuilding a M30B35 in my E30 and im supercharging it too.
my question is that whats the biggest size of supercharger can i get. i want to stick to the twin screw supercharger as i like the sound.

any ideas anyone?

cheers
Ben

eaton m112's are pritty big and cheep but there roots type not the twin screw which are alot more expensive.

Theres also the M90's, that come up on e-bay from time to time some ones fitted one of these to a 325 before, they are big basterds though 8)

hmmm well cheap sounds good.
i did think that most of the eaton chargers where twin screw?
what sort of power gain would i be looking for with those sorts of charger?

cheers

not knowing a great deal about this but wouldnt the cheapest option be to find a charger off an x300 jag xjr? the early ones were 6 pot engines so it should be roughly the same capacity as the m30. probably the ones that appletree has mentioned but just a thought. :D

Well the xkr charger was my first choice but I started to question if it was going to be big enough for a good gain in power. Could start with the xkr charger then maybe turbo it too to. Twin charged e30 any one winkeye

appletree would know but i think changing the pulley size gives more or less power. cant actually remember what the 6 pot xjr's put out.

hmmm well i think sticking to the jag charger would be a good idea for now. cheaper and just had a look and the xkr and it weighs in a 322bhp so im sure i could match or even beet that with the right components.

any recommendations anyone?

enough info?

go for a m112

There's zoners who could turn you a custom pulley, so you just need to work out how much boost you want to run!

well i must say thats a good amount of into there thanks 8)

the E30 isnt a daily driver so i can turn the boost up alittle. well as much possible without a rebuild with a low comp setup.

who would be able to magic me up a pulley and how do i know what size to go for?

cheers

There's Alex ( turbobrown ) who can do all things round, Matt ( appletree ) is sc'd, Ant @ A-Tech is all up on rotrex but he's a fountain of knowledge, other than that post on here and see what people can suggest, there's many secret engineers and race mechanics floating about, they'll come flocking when there's something good to chat about. :D

what is the cr on the m30?

rods, pistons, crank should handle 400bhp, there are forged parts if needed.

Heads and block will be checked in rebuild I assume so aslong as in vgc you should be fine stock, injectors will need upping to 440cc min, using stock gasket and ARP studs will hold plenty, no idea on clutch but you can get uprated ones in the usa.

Fit a huge IC, cheap on ebay, you'll need to make up a plate and output for the sc but that's no big issue, only a small thing to sort.

Here's a post from another forum user:
I used a Vortech V-4 not the best match for low end power but it made 400hp. The m30 loves boost. If you are looking into the eaton line i would suggest you look at a larger model then the m90. something like the m112. as an older used m90 style would run out of steam in the upper rpms. If you go with a new unit you can use a m90 as they are much improved. You should be safe on 10psi that should put you around 300hp. you will need an intercooler and maybe even an oil cooler. I ran 14psi for awhile and had some over heating problems do to an old rad.

I have been looking all over for the pics of the set up beacuse a few people have asked but i just can't find them. I do have a parts list that i could copy for you. PM me if you would like it.

Ah lovely good bit of info that!

As far as I'm aware it's 8:2:1 but I'm still yet to find out once iv done the head gasket.
Just need to find a set of ARP bolts and a water pump gasket and I'll be set to put it in. Almost anyway.
I still need to sort a manifold out and a lightened fly wheel out just next on my list.

Cheers
Ben
