Hi Guys, I'm posting this in this section as I need to hear from you guys that have stuck M30's, M50/2's, S50's etc into your car. What companies are you using? I'm currently with HIC and it's that time of the year for renewal.

My quote has come back at £344 for TPF&T with coverage to drive any other car. I paid £354 last year and I now have 5 years no claims (since learning to drive) so for an extra 1 year no claim they've given me a whole £10 off!! I could do with some names of other companies that would deal with cars that have had engine swops to try and get a better deal.

Cheers chaps and I hope you all had a great Christmas :D

Charlie

hi charlie, i was paying £500 a year for my touring , im 38 with 4 years no claims and 0 points. my van insurance has went down over £100 this year thoughwhen i renewed in december from 370 to 250. adrain flux. when it comes to renewal tell them youve had a cheaper quote from tesco and you want to cancel, if you dont get gready and just knock off £50-£70 or so they will usually match it to keep your business. if they cant match it your best going elsewhere anyway. tesco give cheap quotes but i wouldnt p1ss on them if they were on fire as they are useless come claim time but they are handy to use as a bargaining tool .
i dont think youll get it that much cheaper than what you have but every little helps. :D

I hear what your saying but HIC would know straight away I was talking crap as Tesco's don't touch modified. What I need is some names of other companies used by you guys that have done engine conversions so I can get some genuine quotes to try and get the price down a bit.

When I last spoke to HIC they told me they were the sister company to Adrian Flux, is this true?

HIC quoted me about £20 more than the previous year despite me making it to 22 and having an incident free year etc etc. The price was £526, I phoned loads of other companies, like Sky insurance and A plan, and none could get close. I was on the verge on taking it in the backside or taking the car off the road over winter. A nice lady from HIC phoned me up the day before it was due to expire. I chatted her up a bit, fiddled with the quote, complained that I wasn't happy at it going up despite the risk reducing. The phone call, her phone call, lasted over 35 minutes. It came out at £408 :D I was happy, and I expect they are too. Then I added a roll cage, different exhaust and it didn't change it one bit. 8)

Well after wasting loads of time phoning various modified insurance companies it turned out no one could beat my renewal quote from HIC. I phoned them up to renew it and add a few extras like stainless exhaust, LSD, powerflex bushes etc I then asked to add my Girlfriend (only 26) and it came back £40 cheaper than my original renewal price

So from this experience all I can say to everyone is try HIC before anyone else, their very hard to beat on price :D

Lucky man, HIC didn't even want to know about my car (M3 with roll cage and 2.5 S14)

Performance direct are good, when I was insuring the M50 they beat AF's renewal price by £500! AF said they would match it but only if I could provide them with a paper copy of the quote  I used Performance direct that year :)
