To all e30 tech geeks,

I have sat about a 95 e34 540i with about 80k and a 6 shifter. Now this was fine about 2 years ago when I wanted to use it to go on a high speed European tour but since then it has languished and been replaced with a skyline.

After spending a small fortune on making my cheeks saggy for the rest of my life I'm now too scared to take it on uk tracks for fear of a chavved up corsa t-boning me and the oik having no track insurance.

So plan of action is to mate an e30 to the e34's drivetrain and make some v8 music. :D

How easy is this in RHD as I've seen many LHD conversions but the differences may be too much with what I want as a quick swap.

TIA

Same issues for LHD as RHD. (Brakes mainly) You can either use the E34 brake setup, modifed appropriately to retain the servo assist, but this means cutting into the strut support somewhat. Manifolds will need to be modified either way you do it. Wiring should be straight forward, but start with a 325 if possible. You'll have vented discs, discs f/r and the battery in the boot already (It won't fit in the traRH bank will interfere with the tray. The rest, look up Jonsku V8 conversion for more details.

awesome thanks.

Doesn't look that difficult to do and it looks like I pretty much have all the bits. only thing that is a bit daunting is the manifolds. doesn't seem like theres alot of space in there.

No, Hardly any. You'll need to custom make the shifter rod and support thingy, new manifolds, new brake setup. Wiring should be fine unless your using M62/TU.

The 6 speed box is a VERY tight fit, but it's possible.

A 5 speed 530i box is easier because it's basically an E36 328i/M3 box with the V8 bellhousing.

And I have one, plus the V8 brake set up too. :D
