is the engine strong enough and would raising the rev limiter with a chip be dangerous using nos? also what would be a sensable power increase 50bhp or more like 100?

I would imagine 25bhp increase is a safe bet.
50bhp jets maybe pushing it a bit too far unless you are installing progressive nitrous, and thinking of upgrading some of the internals.
100bhp of nitrous you will defiently need to upgrade the internals with forged goodies, by this point you will be thinking why did i spend all this money on a 4pot.

the i.s already has a forged crank would that not be ebough? are the pistons allso forged?

you can run ALOT if you run adjustable timing and you have control over fuel.
If you don´t have that or the nitro kit doesn´t have it, then 0hp is possible.

how much would the proressive set up cost and what could i realistically run on a chipped i.s engine?
